Merry Christmas, Stuffed Peppers and Darth Vader

Merry Christmas Everyone! I'm over here in Boston watching the temperature drop. But if you're this side of Las Vegas you're feeling it too. We have the tree all decorated and the garland over the fireplace. I think if I wasn't married I'd have a natty ice, can tree with left over pizza decorating my milk crate entertainment center. The whole neighborhood have their lights going and it looks cozy. If only the snow would come and go by the New Year. The other months of snow should stay on mountain tops and xmas movies.

Anyways, after you've eaten you holiday dinner and your joules are impacted with ham and cream filled cream puffs, I have an idea of what to do with your left overs. I got this idea during Thanksgiving, what I came up this Stuffed Peppers/Sheppard Pie mashup. To begin, take a Red bell pepper (sweet and good length), cut it length wise in 2 equal parts and hollow it out. Take whatever meat you have left over and mince it up or shred into small pieces. Fill half the pepper with the meat. Secondly take any vegetable you have and use them to fill in the last half of the pepper (squash, carrots and any other sweet tasting veg). Finally take some mashed potatoes and pack them on top of the veg. One half of the pepper is enough for one person if you can find a good sized pepper. Put the whole thing into the over at 325 degrees for 30min. Since most of the ingredients are already cooked, the pepper is the only thing that needs to be cooked. One last touch is to put some white cheese on everything, so tasty!

Finally I'm hear to show you my latest painting, "Reflections of the Sith Lord, Darth Vader." This painting deals with Vader reflecting on the vengeful events that lead to his metamorphosis. I haven't seen many depictions of this man thinking about his past mistakes and triumphs. Follow this link below to bid on this great painting.

Luke, Jabba, and a 20lb Turkey

Hope Everyone's Thanksgiving was as good as it can possibly be, so if you didn't end up passed out in front of your local Chucky Cheese, don't worry you still have time. The weekend is only half way through. So pop in some Sex in the City 2 and start the Wild Turkey IV drip. Or take a shot every time you think Liza Minnelli is going to pass out from amphetamine exhaustion.

I did happen to be productive this weekend between cooking a massive mutant bird and drinking my body weight in gravy and wine. I have a Super Sweet painting of Luke in Jabba's lair comprised of watercolor and colored pencil that is available. I like all of the creatures and oddities that dwell in Jabba's palace. It was always one of the highlights of Return of the Jedi.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Keep Working

I'm listening to Marc Maron's WTF podcast, he's interviewing Ben Stiller. And all I can think is keep working, keep working. Don't worry about what others are doing or what you're not doing, just keep working. I try not to look at the clock if I'm running late, I just try and plow through it and get out the door. The time I waste looking at the clock, thinking I might be late is contributing to my tardiness. So I just put my head down and keep working. There are plenty of people creating and discovering ideas that push their future but I can't worry about it or think about it too much because it stalls my own productivity. So just keep working and something good and bad will come out of it.

I do find in my art and music that mistakes are my friends. I was practicing a solo piece on guitar I was jamming out and I screwed up and that mess up ended up being the intro to the tune. So I'm writing this, listening to professional entertainers talking about their work ethic instead of seeing what's on the tube. Thinking I need to do more and learn more from professionals so I can provide for my family. My buddy Randy Martinez is a inspiration, he a professional artist that's living the dream and he gives me something to strive fore.

I need to stop typing and keep working.

Christmas Time in Hoth

These sketch cards are actually of the tasty bait that was used to get the Topps Empire Strikes Back 30th Anniversary set. I'm so glad I got to be a part of this. So I thought I'd release these little darlings out into the great beyond and let them be a great gift for those lucky few. I put a lot of work into these cards and I'm selling them at a very competitive price. They're all colored pencil on Strathmore Vellum paper. But I thought it was poignant to offer these images of the icy planet of Hoth during this wintery season.

Drawings Make a Great Gift

Speaking of the Tis the Season, Bills Win! Bills Win! I had to get that out, I don't know how many of them I'll get the rest of this season.

It's coming up that time again when we must all sell ourselves. I have a bunch of drawings that I'm letting out into the world to scurry with the rest of the aminals and implings. I've posted these drawing on ebay for an incredibly reasonable price, good golly miss molly! I have a number of other drawings under "Alex Alderete", drawings that were the initial idea for clothing designs, book and magazine entries.

Spring/Fall'10 Drawings

I have the Fall series of drawings for sale that were the base some of my best recent works.

It's Gotta Start Somewhere

Here we are, back from the 9-5 soul drain and now back to my true purpose...art and music. I'm going to be posting my music which is typically guitar solo stuff. I'm not much of a song writer, my dad is so I'll probably be singing my dads songs if I sing any. I'll be posting art for view and for sale. Let me know if you'd like a commission. I'm typically accepting jobs or I can give you a rain check. Dose any one use the term rain check any more, do people even use checks any more?
